World Hand Hygiene Day - 2025
May 06, 2025
To mark the World Hand Hygiene Day, the Department of Fundamentals of Nursing at Manipal College of Nursing (MCON), MAHE, Manipal, organized an awareness program at the Community Health Centre, Shirva, on 5th May 2025 from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm for healthcare workers, including ASHAs. The event began with a role play by II Semester BSc Nursing students, demonstrating the importance of hand hygiene. This was followed by an interactive session by Mrs. Geena Louis Dsouza, Lecturer, MCON on the theme “It Might Be Gloves. It’s Always Hand Hygiene,” covering key topics such as the Five Moments of Hand Hygiene, the judicious use of medical gloves, their environmental impact, and common myths and facts about glove usage. To reinforce learning in an engaging way, students performed a handwashing dance, encouraging participants to follow the steps. The session successfully educated 35 healthcare workers, contributing to SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 4 (Quality Education) by promoting best practices in infection prevention and community health education.
