September 23, 2026

The 7th National Conference on Youth in Social Change was held on 17 September 2026 at the TMA Pai Halls, Manipal, with the theme “Skills for Social Change.” The conference brought together more than 600 participants from over 20 MAHE and non-MAHE institutions, including dynamic young leaders, enthusiastic students, and passionate social advocates.

The program commenced with a pre-conference workshop on “Personality Development through Meditative Skills,” followed by interactive sessions focusing on youth engagement and social change. An E-Poster Presentation Competition was also held online prior to the conference, providing young participants with an opportunity to showcase their innovative ideas and perspectives.

This year’s conference emphasized experiential learning, with the message “Youth in Social Change, Learn a Skill for Life.” Participants attended common morning sessions and participated in hands-on, skill-based training sessions of their choice in the afternoon. Thirteen skill-based workshops were organized by MAHE, covering topics such as Design Thinking, Culinary Basics, Photography Essentials, Self-Defense, and Generative AI.

Manipal College of Nursing – First to Respond: Learn First Aid

Manipal College of Nursing (MCON) organized a skill-based workshop titled “First to Respond: Learn First Aid.” Six faculty members from MCON conducted practical training for approximately 35 participants on essential first-aid procedures. The sessions covered the management of bleeding, wounds, fractures, sprains, dislocations, head, neck, and spinal injuries, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and choking. The workshop provided participants with practical skills to respond appropriately and confidently during emergencies.

Approximately 60 students from Manipal College of Nursing actively participated in the Youth Conference and various skill-based workshops. This included 24 first-semester students, 35 third-semester students, and three seventh-semester students. In addition, three MCON students presented their innovative posters in the E-Poster Presentation Competition.

The participation of students and faculty from MCON reflected the institution’s commitment to youth empowerment, experiential learning, community engagement, and the development of life-saving skills. The certificates for the participants were distributed by Dr. Judith A. Noronha, Dean, Manipal College of Nursing.

The conference served as a valuable platform for young people to develop practical skills, exchange ideas, foster collaboration, and understand their role in creating positive social change. The program contributed to the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being, SDG 4 – Quality Education, SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities, SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals.
