Valedictory Program of the Certificate Course on Oncology Nursing & Basic Obstetric Skills

The Valedictory Program of the Certificate Course in Oncology Nursing and Basic Obstetric Skills (BOS), organized by the Departments of Medical Surgical Nursing (MSN) and Obstetric and Gynecological Nursing (OBG), Manipal College of Nursing (MCON), MAHE, Manipal, was held on 8th May 2026 at 2.30 pm in the Advanced Wound Care Room, 5th Floor, MCON.

The program was graced by Dr. Suba Sooria, Head of Nursing Services, Kasturba Hospital (KH), Manipal, as the Chief Guest. Dr. Pratibha Kamath, Assistant Professor (Senior Scale), Department of OBG Nursing, MCON, welcomed the gathering. Mrs. Janet Alva, Assistant Professor (Senior Scale), Department of Medical Surgical Nursing, MCON, presented a report on certificate courses, highlighting the objectives, course activities, practical training sessions, and successful completion of the program. A total of 26 participants successfully completed the course and were awarded certificates by Dr. Tessy Treesa Jose, Associate Dean, MCON, and Dr. Suba Sooria.

The chief guest, in her address, congratulated the participants and emphasized the importance of skill-based training in continuing nursing education. She encouraged the participants to apply the knowledge and skills gained through the course in clinical practice to continually improve the quality of patient care. She also appreciated the efforts of MCON and the Quality Team of KH, Manipal, for successfully organizing the program.

Dr. Tessy Treesa Jose appreciated the participants for completing the course with enthusiasm and dedication. She also acknowledged the support extended by Dr. Suba Sooria for the smooth conduct of the certificate programs. The participants expressed their gratitude for the course through positive feedback shared during the program. Dr. Jyothi Chakrabarty, Head of the Department of Medical Surgical Nursing, MCON, proposed the vote of thanks.

The outcomes of the certificate courses were aligned with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education. The courses in Oncology Nursing and Basic Obstetric Skills were coordinated by Mrs. Janet Alva and Dr. Pratibha Kamath, respectively. The proceedings of the program were compered by Dr. Pratibha Kamath.
