Report on Awareness program: National Nutrition week-2025 Theme: “Eat Right for A Better Life”

The fifth semester BSc Nursing students and the Department of Community Health Nursing in association with NSS unit of Manipal College of Nursing organized an awareness program as part of the “National Nutrition Week-2025” on the theme “Eat Right for A Better Life” on 11thSeptember 2025 between 2.00 to 3.30 pm at Aided Higher Primary School (AHPS), Indira Nagar, Kukkikatte, which was focusing on SDG-3 Good health &wellbeing.
The program commenced with a welcome dance by Ms. Meenakshi and Ms. Anjali Peter, which was followed by a welcome speech by Ms. Priya Sumithra. The Guest of honor Mrs. Sumangala, Headmistress, AHPS, Mrs. Manjula, Asst. Professor & Mrs. Clara, Lecturer MCON, Ms. Linnet Johnson and Ms. Serena as student representatives were formally welcomed. Mrs. Manjula, Asst. Professor, MCON, MAHE briefed on the significance of the program and the theme, which was followed by an address by the Headmistress Mrs. Sumangala. She has emphasized the importance of having a balanced diet; thanked the organizers for conducting a very useful session & requested the school children to utilize the information obtained, by adopting them in their daily life. Further the program was continued with a power point presentation on essential nutrients, balanced diet, healthy food practices, consequences of consuming junk foods by Ms. Angel Mary. A skit combined with an action song was performed by the student team led by Ms. Aneeta Thomas, effectively conveyed the theme “Eat Right for A Better Life.” Ms. Varada R conducted few riddles related to nutrition and the prizes for the winners were distributed.
The body weight of all the children was checked by Ms. Lini Biju and team, emphasizing the importance of growth monitoring. Out of 153 children, 42 % had low weight for age & they were informed to consume the protein rich diet by specifying the low-cost protein rich diet. Nutritious snacks were distributed to all the children by Mr. Albin and team.
A total of 153 school children along with 8 teachers participated in the program. The Headmistress and the faculty members of the school expressed that the program was informative and inspiring, and helped to instill the value of good nutrition among young minds. The program successfully emphasized the importance of a balanced diet and adopting healthy eating habits in daily life. The program made a step towards building a healthier and more informed future generation.
The program was concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Trisha. Ms. Serena served as the master of the ceremony for the program. The program was coordinated by Mrs. Manjula, Asst. Professor, MCON, MAHE, Manipal.
