March 24th has been commemorated as World Tuberculosis Day at an international level. It is observed to raise the awareness about tuberculosis amongst the common public. This year’s theme stresses upon united efforts of everybody to totally eradicate this disease. Dr. Aswini Kumar Mohapatra, Professor and Head of the Department of Pulmonary Medicine inaugurated the programme.  

The programme began with display of informative posters on tuberculosis, which was followed by an interactive session for the patients and their caretakers by Mrs. Melita Sheilini, Asst. Professor, Manipal College of Nursing. She emphasized on the precautionary measures to prevent TB, maintaining hygiene, food habits to improve self health, commitment and adherence to the treatment. Dr. Kasturi R Adiga, Principal, School of Nursing, Dr. Shashidhar Y N, HoD, Community Health Nursing, Asst. Nursing Superintendent & staff nurses of KH Manipal were present during the programme.
The best poster awards were bagged by Dr. Blessy Prabha Valsaraj, Mrs. Prathibha, Faculty of Nursing and Ms. Valentina, Ms. Sushma II yr BSc. Nursing students of MCON Manipal.
