Road Safety Awareness Program Report

Health and Social Welfare Committee of the Students Nurses Association (SNA) 2025, Manipal College of Nursing, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, conducted an awareness programme on Road Safety for third-semester BSc Nursing students of MCON, on 30th October 2025 from 4.00 pm to 4.30 pm in Lecture Hall 2, 3rd floor, Basic Science building, Manipal. Mr Nilesh, a Police constable from the Technical Cell of the Cyber Crime Police Station in Udupi district, Karnataka, was the resource person. The session focused on the importance of safe practices on the road, whether as pedestrians, cyclists, or drivers. Encouraging students to stay attentive and avoid distractions, such as mobile phones, while on the road. Highlighting the importance of obeying traffic signals, wearing helmets, and using pedestrian crossings. Promoting the use of footpaths and safe crossing practices. The key message emphasised that road safety is a shared responsibility and that individual actions can prevent accidents and save lives. A total of 156 students actively participated. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms Rosemi Ann Reji. The overall programme was coordinated by Ms Rosemi Ann Reji, 7th semester BSc nursing, and Mr Sankar P, 5th semester student, under the guidance of Mrs Janet Alva, Assistant Professor, and Dr Shalini G Nayak, Assistant Professor, Senior Scale, Department of Medical Surgical Nursing, Manipal College of Nursing, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal. This initiative is in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being, SDG 4: Quality Education
