Interactive session on Mental Well-being
October 11, 2025
As part of World Mental Health Day, the Department of Fundamentals of Nursing, MCON, MAHE Manipal, in collaboration with the Lions Club of Moodubelle, organised an interactive session on Mental Well-being on Friday, 10th October 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Lawrence English medium school for 8th and 9th standard students.
The resource person for the session was Ms Preejana Sharma, a Research Scholar from the Department of Fundamentals of Nursing, MCON Manipal, who is currently pursuing her PhD on the topic of mental health among adolescents.
The session aimed to raise awareness about the importance of mental well-being, emphasising that it is equally important as physical health. It highlighted simple daily strategies such as talking to friends, taking breaks, and managing stress through deep breathing exercises to maintain a healthy mind.
Students actively participated in engaging icebreaker activities like “Emoji Mood Parade” and “Mood Meter Corners”, which encouraged them to express their emotions freely and normalise conversations about feelings. A demonstration of deep breathing exercises was also conducted. The students participated with great enthusiasm and clarified their doubts.
A total of 92 students attended the session, including 48 boys and 44 girls. This initiative supports SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being.
