Report on School Health Awareness Program on Adolescent Health

On October 11, 2025, the students of the II year PBBSc nursing and the Department of Community Health Nursing, MCON, MAHE, Manipal, organized an impactful school health awareness program on "Adolescent Health" at St. Lawrence English Medium School, Moodubelle, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The initiative aimed to educate school children on Adolescent health, including Menstrual health.
Ms. Alvita served as the Master of the Ceremony, while Ms. Adlene and Mr. Subramanya escorted the dignitaries, including Mr. Pritesh D'Sa, Administrator, Mrs. Sandra Lobo, Principal, Dr. Ansuya, Associate Professor, Department of Community Health Nursing, MCON, and Mr. Amol, Assistant Lecturer, Department of Community Health Nursing, MCON.
The event commenced with a welcome speech by Ms. Vinilda, followed by addresses from Joyce Ma'am, Mr. Joel D'Sa (Management Committee), and Mrs. Sandra Lobo, Principal of St. Lawrence English Medium School. A Kannada skit titled "My Body, My Safety" and "Substance Abuse" was performed by both boys and girls of II year PBBSc students. To raise awareness about Menstrual Hygiene, a dedicated menstrual hygiene session and skit were held for girls from 5th to 10th standards, a PowerPoint presentation by Ms. Adlene and Ms. Vidya, followed by a question-and-answer session, and an exercise/dance segment.
A quiz based on the event's content was conducted, with winners awarded prizes by Principal Mrs. Sandra Lobo. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Amol. The event successfully concluded at 12:00 PM, enhancing students' awareness of adolescent health and safety.
A total of 232 students from 5th to 10th standard, along with four school teachers, attended the event. The students participated enthusiastically in all sessions, demonstrating keen interest and curiosity.
The initiative aligned with Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG-3 (Good health and well-being), promoting health literacy about a sense of self-responsibility towards Adolescent and Menstrual Health.
