Second year BSc Nursing (clinical posting: Batch II) students along with the faculty, department of community health nursing, MCON, MAHE, Manipal organized a health awareness program on the topic ‘one step towards cleanliness’ as part of “Swachhata Abhiyan” on 11th October, 2019 at urban slum of Shettibettu.

The awareness is created through role play, action song and flash cards. The program started at 10:30 am with an invocation song by Ms. Madhuri, 2nd year BSc Nursing student, after that role play was performed by students on different topics related to environmental sanitation and proper segregation and disposal of waste.

After the role play, the action song was performed on the topic personal hygiene with the help of action song and dance. The audience felt that the program was very useful for them and it was very entertaining and informative.

A total of 40 participants including children and adults benefitted out of this program. At the end of the program all the people were served with juice and chikki made up of groundnut and jaggery. Toys were distributed to the children to play during their leisure time.

The program came to an end with a vote of thanks. The program was coordinated by the student representatives Ms.Anagha Sebastian and Nikhitha, 2nd year BSc Nursing students and supervised by Mrs, Manjula, Mr. Vinish V and Dr. Malathi G Nayak.
