Report on Faculty Development Program 2026

The Continuing Nursing Education Committee of Manipal College of Nursing, MAHE, Manipal, organized a two-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on July 29 & 30, 2026.

The program was inaugurated by  Dr. Vimal Krishnan S, Professor and Head, Department of Emergency Medicine, KMC, MAHE, Manipal, at Medical Simulation Centre, 6^th floor, Health Science Library  Building, MAHE, Manipal. Dr. Sushmitha R Karkada, Chairperson, CNE Committee, MCON, and Associate Professor, Dept of OBG Nursing, MCON, Manipal, MAHE, welcomed the gathering. Dr Judith A Noronha, Dean, MCON, emphasized the need to bring changes among Z-generation students through interactive teaching-learning methods.

On 29^th July 2026, an interactive discussion with group activities on Simulation design and development, including debriefing, effective use of standardized patients, competency-based assessment in simulation learning, and low-cost moulage preparation, was conducted by Dr. Vimal Krishnan S and his team. Dr. Khalid, Dr. Pranav, Dr. Aadithya, and Dr. Vrinda were the facilitators for the above sessions. Participants were actively involved in the group interaction.

An interactive session on Stronger Together: The Power of Teamwork and Communication was conducted by Dr. Ankitha Shetty, Associate Professor, Manipal School of Commerce and Economics, and Assistant Director - CDS (Technical Management and Humanities, MAHE, Manipal), on 30^th July 2026. The session focused on how to strengthen the organization and  inspire individuals to achieve shared goals.

The afternoon session on Faculty Wellbeing in the Digital Era was conducted by Mr. Mohan Das  Shenoy, Professor of Practice, School of Computer Engineering, MIT, MAHE, Manipal. He emphasized how to maintain well-being in today’s digitally connected world. Followed by a session on Sustainability and Green Practices in Higher Education was conducted by Dr. Amit Kumar, Professor of Practice, School of Civil and Chemical Engineering, MIT, MAHE, Manipal. His speech highlighted the promotion of environmentally responsible practices and the preparation of future generations to build a more sustainable world, in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13: Climate Action.

The sessions were aligned with SDG 4: Quality Education. A total of 74 faculty members participated in the FDP 2026. Ms. Pooja Vaishnav, Assistant Lecturer, Department of Psychiatric (Mental Health) Nursing, Manipal College of Nursing, MAHE, served as the Master of Ceremonies for the two-day program.

This FDP provided a valuable platform for knowledge exchange, skill enhancement, and professional development among faculty members. MCON continues to strive towards academic excellence and innovation in nursing education through such enriching initiatives.
