Report on Effective Alumni Engagement Guest Lecture Series – 06/2026

The Department of Community Health Nursing, Manipal College of Nursing, MAHE, Manipal, organized the Effective Alumni Engagement Guest Lecture Series – 06/2026 on 3rd August 2026 from 2:00 to 3:00 PM at the Community Health Nursing Skill Lab.
The program commenced with a warm welcome and introduction of the speakers. The guest speakers for the session were Ms. Aksa David, an alumna of the 2018–2022 BSc Nursing batch, currently pursuing the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) – Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program at the University of Washington, Seattle, and Ms. Fatema Mohamed Hassanali Fazal, an alumna of the 2015–2019 BSc Nursing batch, currently serving as the Head of the Nursing Department at Columbia Africa IST Clinic, Tanzania, while pursuing a Master of Science in Advanced Practice Nursing/Nurse Practitioner at Aga Khan University, Tanzania.
The speakers delivered an inspiring session titled “From Campus to Career: Sharing Professional Experiences.” They shared their educational journey, professional growth, clinical experiences, leadership roles, and the opportunities and challenges they encountered as they advanced their nursing careers. The speakers emphasized the importance of lifelong learning, professional commitment, clinical excellence, adaptability, and continuous skill development in achieving career success in nursing. Their experiences provided valuable guidance to students aspiring to pursue higher education and global career opportunities.
The session was conducted for the VII Semester B.Sc. Nursing students with the objective of exposing them to diverse career pathways and inspiring them through the achievements of distinguished alumni. The program also aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 – Quality Education by promoting experiential learning, mentorship, and professional development.
The session was highly interactive with students enthusiastically participating in discussions and seeking clarification on career opportunities, higher education, and professional practice in different healthcare settings. The real-life experiences and practical insights shared by the speakers motivated the students to broaden their career perspectives and strengthen their professional aspirations. A total of 58 participants attended the session.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks, followed by a token of appreciation. Gratitude was also extended to the alumni speakers, faculty members, and students for their active participation and support in making the program a grand success.
