ANNUAL SPORTS MEET 2025-26 REPORT

Manipal School of Nursing, MCON, MAHE, Manipal, conducted an annual sports meet on 06 December 2025. Dr. Melita Sheilini, Associate Professor, Department of Medical Surgical Nursing, MCON, MAHE, Manipal, was the chief guest of the program.

The program commenced at 8.30 am with the March past by the students of MSON with the Band troop of Madhava Kripa school, followed by the introduction of the teams to the chief guest, by Ms. Shanti P, Assistant Director, Physical Education Department, MAHE, Manipal. Mrs. Joycee Nancy Noronha, Assistant Lecturer, MSON, welcomed the gathering and introduced the chief guest. Dr. Melita Sheilini addressed the gathering and declared the sports meet 2025-26 open. She spoke about the advantages of sports activities and said that rather than using the term sportsman we can use the word ''sportsmanship''. She said that there are no losers in sports, as all are benefiting from the activities. Dr. Melita Sheilini concluded her speech with inspiring words “engage enjoy and encourage “urging us all to engage wholeheartedly, enjoy every moment of learning and encourage one another to reach greater heights”. The event progressed with a torch bearing ceremony by students. The solemn oath for the event was taken by Mr. Dhanush, sports secretary, 3rd-year Diploma Nursing student. Finally, the program ended with the felicitation of the band set students and their teacher by the chief guest. Mrs. Ashwini Shetty, Assistant Lecturer, MSON, delivered a vote of thanks. Ms. Tenzin Lhadon and Ms Ishney were the master of ceremonies for the program.

Running events comprised 100m, 200m, 400m, and 4x100m relay. The jump events included the long jump and high jump. The throwing events conducted were discus, shot-put, and javelin throw. In addition, a few events for the faculty were held. The position holders were felicitated at the victory stand by different dignitaries.

The valedictory ceremony began at 3.15 pm. Dr. Tessy Treesa Jose, Associate Dean, MCON, MAHE Manipal was the chief guest. Dr. Leena Sequira Principal MSON, welcomed the gathering. Chief guest addressed the students and congratulated them. An individual championship for the year in the men's category was won by Mr. Pema from third year and in the women's category Ms. Manya from Second year. Mr. Pema won the Best Outgoing Men trophy and Ms. Yashwini won the Best Outgoing Women for the year 25-26. The program ended with a vote of thanks by Mr. Dhanush. Ms. Annette, third year Diploma student, was the master of ceremony for the valedictory program. The event contributed to Sustainable Development Goal 3- "Good Health and Wellbeing".
