Report on World AIDS Day 2025

The Department of Fundamentals of Nursing, Manipal College of Nursing (MCON), MAHE, observed World AIDS Day by organizing an HIV/AIDS awareness program on December 1, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. at SVT High School, Karkala.

Dr. Prima J. J. D’Souza, Assistant Professor (Senior Scale), MCON, delivered an informative session highlighting the significance of observing World AIDS Day annually and the importance of educating children about HIV/AIDS prevention. She explained the basics of HIV and AIDS, including causes, symptoms, treatment options, and preventive measures. She also discussed the stigma and discrimination faced by people living with HIV and emphasized the need for compassion, support, and inclusion.

A total of 83 students participated actively in the session. Mrs. Geena Louis and Mrs. Kusumavathy, faculty members from the Department of Fundamentals of Nursing, collected feedback from the students to assess the effectiveness of the program.

The initiative contributed to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education by promoting health awareness among school-aged children.
