Report: Workshop on “The Palliative Immersion”
February 27, 2026
The Department of Fundamentals of Nursing organized a workshop titled “The Palliative Immersion” for the 4th‑semester BSc Nursing students on 26th February 2026 as part of the Palliative Care Module. The module was delivered through an innovative, workshop‑based learning approach, in which all key topics were systematically discussed and reinforced through related demonstrations. The sessions included interactive discussions, case‑based learning, and hands‑on demonstrations of essential palliative care procedures, enabling students to critically reflect on the principles and practices of palliative care. Students actively engaged in the workshop, participating in case studies and skill demonstrations that enhanced their clinical understanding and competencies.
The resource persons for the workshop were Lt. Alice Stella, Retired Nursing Officer and Adjunct Faculty, Manipal College of Nursing, MAHE, Manipal, and Dr. Radhika R. Pai, Assistant Professor and Fellow in Palliative Care Nursing, Manipal College of Nursing, MAHE, Manipal. Their combined expertise provided students with valuable insights into holistic and evidence-based palliative care practices.
A total of 153 fourth‑semester BSc Nursing students participated in the workshop. The initiative supported the goals of SDG 3 (Good Health and Well‑Being) and SDG 4 (Quality Education) by promoting enhanced clinical learning and fostering compassionate, patient-centered nursing practice.
