Report on outreach programme on ‘Safe Motherhood Day"
The Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecological (OBG) Nursing Manipal College of Nursing (MCON), Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), conducted an outreach programme on ‘Safe Motherhood Day’ for the young couples gathered for the program on ‘planned parenthood counselling for future couples’ conducted by the family commission of Udupi diocese, Udupi on 9th April 2022. There were a total of ten couples, who actively participated in the program. Mr Lesly Aroza, Director of the family commission of Udupi diocese, Udupi welcomed the gathering. Dr Sonia R B D’Souza, Professor and Head, Obstetrics and gynaecological Nursing, MCON Manipal was the resource person for the session. She highlighted the importance of health and women’s health, in particular, the four pillars of safe motherhood, the importance of celebrating safe motherhood day, care during preconception, during pregnancy, during intranatal and the postnatal period. The gathering cleared a lot of the doubts of the participants. The session was interactive and the participants provided their feedback. The session ended at 4:15 pm.
