Palliative Care Capacity Building – Training Program Series
Manipal College of Nursing, Manipal, MAHE, Manipal and Kasturba Medical College, Manipal organized the inauguration of training program series for Primary Health Care workers on the topic “Effectiveness of capacity building- Integrating palliative care and symptom management” on 23rd June 2022 at 9.30 am at the Conference Hall of Shirdi Sai Baba Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Manipal. Dr. Judith A Noronha, Dean, MCON welcomed the gathering. The Chief Guest of the program Dr. Nagabhushan Udupa, District Health and Family Welfare Officer, Udupi District highlighted the important role played by the ASHA workers in health care delivery. He also advised the participants to learn various aspects of palliative care delivery and thereby help the family members in their respective villages. Further, the Guests of Honor for the event Dr. Sharath K Rao, Dean, KMC Manipal, Dr. Avinash Shetty, Medical Superintendent, Kasturba Hospital Manipal, and Dr. Ashwini Kumar, HoD, Department of Community Medicine, KMC also addressed the gathering. Dr. Malathi G Nayak, the Principal Investigator of the Project thanked the gathering. A total of 70 primary health care workers participated in the program.
The program further continued with the training session for the primary health care workers at GFATM Classroom of the MCON building. The Resource Persons for the training were Dr. Naveen Salins, Professor, and Head, Department of Palliative Medicine and Supportive Care, KH, Manipal; Dr. Krithika S Rao, Assistant Professor, Department of Palliative Medicine and Supportive Care; Dr. Malathi G Nayak, and Dr. Radhika R Pai from Manipal College of Nursing, Manipal.
