Awareness on “say no to single use plastic”
As part of Swachhata Pakhwada, the students of Manipal College of Nursing Manipal organized a slum visit on 26th January 2020 from 3:30 pm to 5 pm at Indrali slum, Udupi to create awareness among slum dwellers about the plastic ban.
Students educated people about the hazard of plastic use. Ms. Riya Fernandes, 3rd year BSc Nursing student spoke about the banned plastic and informed on the types of plastic that should not be used and encouraged them to use eco-friendly carry bags. Around 30 slum dwellers participated in this program. Students were guided and accompanied by three faculty from Manipal College of Nursing. Ms. Rangchung, the chairperson of health and social welfare committee of nursing, coordinated the program.
