“MCON CUISINES” – Nutrition Project

The I Year PBBSc Nursing students of Manipal College of Nursing, MAHE Manipal conducted Nutrition day “MCON CUISINES” as part of their curricular requirement on 20/05/2022.
Students were divided into groups of four and were assigned to prepare a one-day menu plan for the Antenatal mother, pre-schooler with malnutrition, adolescents with anemia, and patients with Diabetes mellitus.
Students discussed within their groups as well as the supervising teachers, planned and calculated the menu, based on the weight and type of work of the target group assigned to them.
On the day of the presentation, the students prepared the menu plan by applying the principles of hygienic cooking and displayed the menu with a brief presentation. Evaluation of the project was done by Dr. Yashodha Sathish, Assistant Professor, Department of Child Health Nursing, and Mrs. Savitha, Assistant Professor, Department of Mental Health Nursing, MCON Manipal. The project was coordinated by Mrs. Reshma R Kotian, Lecturer, and Dr. Maria Pais, Assistant Professor under the guidance of Dr. Shashidhara Y N. HOD, Department of Community Health Nursing, MCON, MAHE, Manipal.
