Alumni Engagement Guest Lecture Series – 07/2022
Department of Child Health Nursing, Manipal College of Nursing, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal organized an Alumni Guest Lecture on “Best Practices in Neonatal Care” on April 13, 2022, between 03.00 pm & 04.00 pm for undergraduate and postgraduate nursing students through Microsoft Team Platform. Ms Deepti George, Neonatal Nurse, Mid & South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, London, UK and alumna (MSc Graduate 2012-2014 batch) of MCON, Manipal was the speaker for the session. She discussed the various aspects of neonatal care including care during the first hour of life (golden hour), transitional care and developmental supportive care. She also emphasized the importance of family-centred care and family integrated care, which facilitates the empowerment of parents in the continued care of the neonate. Ms Deepti shared her experience of taking care of neonates and applying evidence-based practices in her workplace in the UK.
A total of 118 participants including III BSc (73), I PBBSc (20), I & II MSc (18) along with the faculty members and research scholars (07) of MCON, Manipal attended the guest lecture. The session was interactive and informative.
