Manipal, Karnataka — February 2026:
The Prasanna School of Public Health (PSPH), MAHE is proud to announce the successful hosting of the Multidisciplinary Global Health Symposium (MGHS), bringing together an exceptional panel of 45 national and international experts to advance dialogue in global health, research, education, and policy.
The symposium highlighted PSPH’s commitment to fostering global collaboration and strengthening interdisciplinary public health systems. Eminent leaders such as Dr. Laura Magaña Valladares, President & CEO of ASPPH (USA); Prof. Ilona Kickbusch, Council Chair, World Health Summit (Germany); and Prof. Nelson Sewankambo, former Dean, Makerere University College of Health Sciences (Uganda), were among the key international participants.
Experts from Taiwan, Costa Rica, Germany, Africa, and leading Indian public health institutions—including ICMR–NIIRNCD, NIMHANS, JIPMER, IIPH Hyderabad, and IIIT Bangalore—contributed insights across areas such as health governance, epidemiology, health promotion, digital health, and health systems strengthening.
Several senior faculty members and researchers from MAHE and PSPH also actively participated, representing diverse departments such as Public Health Nutrition, Community Medicine, Social & Health Innovation, Health Technology & Informatics, Health Care Management, Global Public Health Policy, and Applied Statistics & Data Science.
Dr. Cherian Varghese, Director, PSPH, welcomed the esteemed gathering and emphasized PSPH’s role in shaping impactful public health dialogue:
“This symposium reflects PSPH’s mission to bring global and national leaders together to address critical public health challenges and co-create solutions that strengthen health systems worldwide.”
The event served as a platform for:
- Cross‑sectoral discussions on global health priorities
- Strengthening academic and institutional partnerships
- Exploring innovations in public health education and policy
- Identifying collaborative research opportunities
The presence of experts from 15+ global and national institutions made the symposium an enriching and forward‑looking milestone for PSPH. By fostering such platforms, PSPH continues to scale its role as a leading contributor to global public health thought leadership.
