Course Description
The Bachelor of Public Health (Honours) programme is a four-year, full-time undergraduate course designed to build a strong foundation in public health concepts, practical skills, and real-world exposure. The curriculum integrates health sciences, social sciences, policy, and management to prepare students for diverse roles in public health systems and community health initiatives. Students gain hands-on experience through field visits, internships, research projects, and community-based learning.
Focus
The programme provides a strong foundation in public health through key areas such as epidemiology, biostatistics, social and behavioural sciences, health systems, and disease prevention. It also covers health promotion, policy and legislation, research methodology, health economics, project management, and emerging topics like climate change and One Health, ensuring students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills for real-world challenges.
Flexible Pathways:
- Four-Year Honours Track: Students who attain a minimum CGPA of 7.5 at the end of third year with no backlogs will have the option of progressing to fourth year to complete the honours degree.
- Three-Year BPH Degree (Exit Option): Students may exit after 3 years with a BPH degree.
- Pathway programmes; Scholarship enabled MPH/MSW/MHA/MSc HTA courses at PSPH for BPH graduates meeting the eligibility and screening criteria for respective programmes.
Career Prospects
Graduates can pursue careers across diverse sectors including the public health sector, developmental sector, non-governmental organizations, and research organizations, contributing to community well-being, programme implementation, policy support, and evidence-based public health practice.
Eligibility Criteria
Pass in 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English from a recognized Board, with minimum 55 % aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
