The Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology, MCODS Manipal, celebrated the International Day of Radiology on November 8, 2025, in commemoration of the discovery of X-rays. Dr. Yogesh Chhaparwal, Head of the Department, welcomed the gathering and provided an overview of the Roentgen Day celebrations and competitions that are conducted every year. This year a student painting competition titled “Spectrum of Dental Radiology,” was conducted on November 6, 2025. The competition was well received with enthusiastic participation of the undergraduate students.

Dean Dr. Gopalakrishnan Dharmarajan addressed the audience, emphasizing the vital role of X-rays in modern dental practice. This was followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and a floral tribute by the Dean and Associate Deans Dr. Shashi Rashmi Acharya and Dr. Srikanth G.

Radiographers Mr. Bhaskar Hebbar, Mr. Manjunath Nayak, and Mrs. Amitha Nayak were felicitated by the Dean and Associate Deans for their invaluable contributions to maintaining safety standards and enhancing the efficiency of radiology services at the institute. The program concluded with a presentation by first-year postgraduate students on “Evolution in Dental Imaging: From X-rays to Artificial Intelligence.” The winners of the painting competition were Ms Indrakshi Samaddar (First prize), Ms Mansi Gupta (Second prize). The third prize was shared by Mr. Ashwini Singh and Ms Arnav Deshpande. The prizes were distributed to the winners.
