MCODS, Manipal Researchers Awarded ICMR Extramural Grant under ANVESHAN 26

The Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics, Manipal College of Dental Sciences (MCODS), Manipal, is pleased to announce that Dr. Neetha Shenoy, Reader, has been awarded an ICMR Extramural Grant – ANVESHAN 26 under the Investigator-Initiated Research Proposals, with a sanctioned amount of ₹54,61,777. The funded project, titled “Development and Evaluation of Bioactive Nanomaterials for Dental Caries,” focuses on the development, synthesis, and comprehensive characterisation of bioactive nanomaterials using a customised iontophoretic delivery system for the prevention and management of dental caries. The project brings together expertise from Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics and Biomedical Engineering and comprises Dr. Neetha Shenoy, Principal Investigator; Dr. Sandya Kini and Dr. Manuel S. Thomas, Co-Principal Investigators, Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics, MCODS, Manipal; and Dr. Pramod K, Co-Principal Investigator, Department of Biomedical Engineering, Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal. The multidisciplinary project explores innovative bioactive nanomaterials and an iontophoretic delivery approach with the potential to contribute to preventive and therapeutic strategies for dental caries. The research team also expresses sincere gratitude to Dr. Kishore Ginjupalli, Dr. Shama Prasada, and Dr. Mathew Peter for their valuable inputs, guidance, and continued support throughout the grant application and submission process. Their timely assistance in addressing queries and fulfilling application requirements contributed to the successful sanction of the project. The award of this competitive extramural research grant represents an important achievement for MCODS, Manipal, and highlights the institution’s commitment to fostering innovative, collaborative, and translational research in oral healthcare.
