MCODS Manipal Celebrates Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics Day with “ConsEndo Spark – From Concept to Creation”

The Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics, Manipal College of Dental Sciences (MCODS), Manipal, celebrated Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics Day by organizing an innovative student activity titled “ConsEndo Spark – From Concept to Creation” on 5th March 2026. The event was conducted from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics, MCODS Manipal, and witnessed enthusiastic participation from both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

The programme was inaugurated in the presence of Dr. Shashi Rashmi Acharya, Associate Dean, and Dr. Srikanth G, Associate Dean, whose encouraging words inspired students to embrace innovation and creativity in dentistry. The event was organised under the guidance of Dr. Tina Puthen Purayil, Professor and Head, Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics, with the objective of fostering innovative thinking and problem-solving skills among dental students.

Designed as an innovation challenge, ConsEndo Spark encouraged participants to conceptualise, design, and present creative models addressing practical clinical challenges in conservative dentistry and endodontics. Students were tasked with developing their ideas using basic craft and recyclable materials, highlighting the significance of sustainability, resourcefulness, and ingenuity in modern dental education. Limited to ten teams, the competition showcased a wide range of imaginative concepts and practical prototypes, reflecting the participants’ scientific understanding and creative abilities.

The session was presided over by Dr. Rashmi Nayak, Professor, Department of Pediatric & Preventive Dentistry, and Dr. Kishore Ginjupalli, Professor and Head, Department of Dental Materials, who served as evaluators and provided valuable feedback on the innovative projects presented by the students. Their expert insights enriched the learning experience and motivated participants to further develop their ideas.

The event provided a dynamic platform for students to integrate scientific knowledge with creativity while enhancing teamwork, innovation, communication, and presentation skills. The Department extends its sincere gratitude to Dr. Gopalakrishnan Dharmarajan, Dean, MCODS Manipal, for his constant encouragement and support in making this academic celebration a meaningful and successful event.
