February 16, 2026
The Departments of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics, Paediatric & Preventive Dentistry, and Dental Materials, Manipal College of Dental Sciences (MCODS), Manipal, successfully organised a Continuing Dental Education (CDE) programme titled “Precision Without Complexity: IFAD (Instrument Free Adaptive Dentistry)” on 16th February 2026 at Lecture Hall 5A, MMMC Building, as an Institutional IQAC initiative.
Conducted in association with Wizdent and Kuraray, the programme featured Dr. Preethi Nagarajan as the resource faculty. The session focused on the concept of Instrument Free Adaptive Dentistry (IFAD), highlighting contemporary approaches to achieving optimal restorative precision while simplifying clinical procedures. Through an engaging lecture, participants were introduced to the scientific principles, clinical applications, and advantages of the IFAD approach in restorative dentistry.
The programme was graced by Dr. Shashi Rashmi Acharya and Dr. Srikanth G, Associate Deans, MCODS Manipal; Dr. Tina Puthen Purayil, Professor and Head, Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics; Dr. Kishore Ginjupalli, Professor and Head, Department of Dental Materials; and Dr. Saurabh Kumar, Professor and Head, Department of Paediatric & Preventive Dentistry, whose presence underscored the academic significance of the initiative.
Following the lecture session, a hands-on workshop was conducted at the Simulation Laboratory, 6th Floor, providing participants with practical exposure to IFAD principles. Faculty members, postgraduate students, interns, and undergraduate students enthusiastically participated in the workshop, which involved demonstrations and hands-on practice on extracted teeth. The practical training emphasized optimal adaptation, anatomical contouring, and composite handling techniques under the IFAD protocol, enabling participants to gain valuable experience in integrating modern restorative concepts into clinical practice.
The programme served as an excellent platform for enhancing clinical knowledge and skills while promoting evidence-based and minimally complex restorative approaches. The organising departments express their sincere gratitude to the Dean and Associate Deans, MCODS Manipal, for their constant encouragement and support. Appreciation is also extended to Wizdent and Kuraray for their valuable collaboration and contribution towards the successful conduct of the programme.
