Manipal Institute of Technology successfully organised the most prestigious Smart India Hackathon-2023 by AICTE, New Delhi, from December 19th to 23rd, 2023 with 24 teams from across the nation. Backed by MIT's innovation prowess, the event tackled real-world challenges like developing Smart Toilets, Wind Energy Devices, Patient Care Systems, and Automatic Drug Dispensers.
The hackathon, featured 234 problem statements, underscores a culture of collaborative innovation, fostering problem-solving mindsets and product innovation. MIT's selection as the hardware edition's venue reaffirms its status as a hub for technological excellence.
Lt. Gen. (Dr.) M D Venkatesh Vice Chancellor, MAHE, set the tone with an impactful speech highlighting MAHE's commitment to sustainable development goals and its remarkable academic standing and courses. Encouraging participants to engage with the medical device hub at Manipal for real-world impact was truly motivating. Exploring MAHE as the destination for future academic pursuits was encouraged, showcasing the institution's dedication to nurturing talent and fostering innovation. MIT's recognition as the Nodal Center for SIH by the Ministry of Education, MHRD Innovation Cell, speaks volumes about its commitment to innovation and excellence.
Director Cdr (Dr.) Anil Rana extended a warm welcome to all participants and mentors, offering his best wishes for the hackathon. He encouraged the attendees to explore the various facilities available across the MIT Manipal campus. Drawing from his own experience, he advised students to carefully plan their work and schedules. He emphasized that the intensive project engagement, spanning five consecutive days, requires meticulous planning to prevent exhaustion and ensure optimal productivity.
