The Department of Oral Pathology and Microbiology conducted a CDE program titled “Insight to incision: Integrating Oral Pathology and Surgery” on the 25^th of April 2026. The resource person of the program was Dr Chitra Chakravarthy, Professor & Head at Department of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery Navodaya Dental College, Raichur (Dept of Oral pathology, MCODS Mangalore. The inaugural program started with prayer and Dr Nandita KP escorted the dignitaries (Dean Dr Ashita Uppoor, Associate Dean Dr Srikant N the resource person Dr Chitra) on the dais. Dr Nandita welcomed the gathering which was followed by Dr Amitha introducing the resource person Dr Chitra. This was followed by the Deans address and felicitation of the resource person by alumni committee members Dr Arathi Rao and Dr Nidhin Philip. The inauguration ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks given by Dr Karn Boaz. Dr Chitra discussed the basic insights into identification and diagnosis of common pathologies encountered in the oral cavity during routine surgery practice. She discussed the importance of clinic-radio-pathologic correlation and also emphasized the role of oral pathologist in determining the surgical treatment. She also gave a videographic and live demonstration of different types of biopsy procedures. The program also included an icebreaker game session conducted by Dr Karen, where students actively participated and enjoyed themselves. Students gave excellent feedback, saying they liked getting to observe real cases and learning about the importance of diagnosis of oral pathologies
