November 12, 2025
Manipal Institute of Communication (MIC) once again made its mark on the national cultural stage with a spectacular performance at WAVES 2025, the annual cultural fest of Birla Institute of Technology, Goa. After a remarkable run at WAVES 2024, MIC returned stronger this year, securing first place in two major categories—Fashion Parade and Nrithyakala—proving its growing dominance in creative and performing arts.
With an enthusiastic contingent of 73 students, MIC showcased excellence across music, dance, theatre, literature, and fashion. The fest, known for drawing some of the finest talents from universities across India, became a stage where MIC’s artistic prowess and collaborative spirit shone brightly.
The dance club Meraki delivered a breathtaking Nrithyakala performance, mesmerizing the audience and judges alike. Their Bharatanatyam choreography, deeply rooted in rhythm and storytelling, stood out among fierce competition and earned them the first prize, marking a proud milestone for the team.
The fashion club, Fanatics, brought glamour and creativity to the runway, clinching first place in the Fashion Parade. Their performance was a perfect blend of concept, style, and presentation, earning wide acclaim for its innovation and execution. Sarah Lobo (BAMC II) won Best Model of WAVES 2025. It was verbally revealed that three of our students—Sarah Lobo, PG Abhiram, and Dev Tehlan—would be models for the upscale clothing brand Westside.
The public speaking club, yELL, demonstrated intellectual sharpness through quizzes, short story writing, and literary contests. Vaibhav Koushik(BAMC II) added to the club’s achievements by securing 3rd place in Querencia, the short story writing competition.
Other clubs also made their presence felt across various events. The theatre club, Kalamanch, continued to impress audiences with its thought-provoking stage performance, while Unplugged, the music club, filled the fest with soulful melodies and powerful live acts.
The achievements at WAVES 2025 were made possible through the dedicated guidance of Dr. C. Manikandan and Ms. Kavita Nagasampige, faculty coordinators. Their mentorship, along with the constant encouragement of Dr. Shubha H.S, Director of MIC, was instrumental in driving the team’s success.
WAVES 2025 will be remembered as a landmark event for MIC—a celebration of its creative evolution and a reflection of the unity and passion that define its student community.
