Department of Physics, MIT Manipal - 9th NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON CONDENSED MATTER PHYSICS AND APPLICATIONS (WEB CONFERENCE) CMPA -2021 - 16-17 September 2021.
The inauguration program was presided by Cdr. Dr Anil Rana Director, MIT, Manipal. He spoke about the importance and relevance of science in in technical education. The inaugural function was followed by one keynote address and five invited talks.
The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Anshuman Dalvi, Professor of Physics & Associate Dean, Faculty Affairs Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani, Pilani Campus. The title of the talk was All-Solid-state energy storage devices: Batteries and Supercapacitors. Dr. Pankaj Sharma, School of Materials Science & Engineering, Hilmer Building (E10), UNSW Sydney, Australia delivered a talk on ferroelectrics revisited at the nanoscale: Unveiling native ferroelectric metals and domain wall technology. This was followed by a talk by Dr. Manu Hegde, Research Engineer McMaster University Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. He spoke on the electronic and optical properties of defects in transparent semiconductor nanostructures. Dr. Manu Jaiswal, Associate Professor Department of Physics Indian Institute of Technology – Madras, Chennai spoke about paradigms in heat transport in graphene and its nanostructures. Shashidhara K, Scientist E, Polymer S & E Directorate, Naval Materials Research Laboratory Defense Research and Development Organisation, Ambernath (East), Maharashtra presented a talk on carbon nanomaterial-based polymer composites. Dr.Amrtha Bhide, Assistant Professor, Physics National Institute of Technology- Puducherry spoke on the topic “Trends in sodium battery research conversion reactions”.
In total 151 registered participants witnessed the annual event of CMPA. There were 93 paper presentations by the delegates in four sessions on various topics of condensed matter physics. Those research papers which were presented in CMPA 2021 would be published in Materials Today: Proceedings after the peer-review process. The conference came to a culmination with concluding remarks by Dr. Ashok Rao, Associate Director (Research and Consultancy).
The organizing committee comprised of Dr. Mohan Rao K as Chairman, Dr. Pramoda Kumara Shetty as convener, Dr. Raviprakash Y as co-convener and Dr. Mamatha D Daivajna as treasurer.
