Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal (MAHE) and Binghamton University, New York signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish an academic and research cooperation between the two institutes. The signing ceremony took place on April 28, 2022, at manipal.edu University Building, Manipal. 

The objective of the MoU is to establish a collaborative degree program for the engineering students of Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal, a constituent unit of MAHE. This program will allow students from MIT to study for 3½ years at MIT and 1½ years at Binghamton University, resulting in a Bachelor’s degree from MAHE and a Master’s degree from Binghamton University. 

The MoU was signed by Lt. Gen. (Dr.) M.D. Venkatesh, Vice-Chancellor MAHE, and Dr. Madhusudhan Govindaraju, Vice Provost International Education & Global Affairs Binghamton University. 

Addressing the audience at the signing ceremony, Lt. Gen. (Dr.) M.D. Venkatesh stated that the academic programs at MAHE are structured in such a way to prepare students to become global citizens. He encouraged both the institutions to take this collaboration further and engage in innovative research aimed at addressing social needs. Echoing the sentiments, Dr. Madhusudhan Govindaraju credited the students and faculty as the driving force behind this collaboration and wished them success in this venture. 

The other dignitaries present during the occasion were Commander (Dr.) Anil Rana, Director MIT Manipal, Dr. Raghu Radhakrishnan, Director International Affairs & Collaborations MAHE, Dr. Somashekara Bhat, Joint Director MIT Manipal, Dr. Preetham Kumar, Deputy Registrar – Academics (Technical) MAHE, Dr. M. Vijaya Kini Associate Director (Alumni, PR & IR) MIT Manipal, Dr. Smitha N. Pai, Professor & Head, Department of I & CT MIT Manipal.
