CURRENT ACADEMIC ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Dr Deepa Austin heads the dedicated PSPH Satellite Office at the MAHE Bengaluru campus. She brings together academic leadership, technical expertise, and collaborative engagement to strengthen PSPH’s growing work in health technology assessment (HTA), health informatics, and health systems strengthening.
Dr Austin plays a pivotal role as PSPH’s liaison with government bodies, public institutions, and other strategic agencies engaged in health technology assessment (HTA), health systems strengthening, and digital innovation. Prior to joining PSPH, she has engaged with collaborative projects of World Economic Forum (WEF), International Labour Organisation(ILO), and Government of Karnataka [Department of IT and BT, Department of EHealth, Department of Nutrition]. She has to her credit an Indian Copyright on a Diet Quality Assessment Questionnaire. She works towards building and sustaining institutional partnerships, facilitate technical dialogues, and coordinate collaborative initiatives that advance the School’s academic, research, and policy engagement. She is instrumental in organizing events, expert consultations, and sectoral engagements at the Bengaluru campus, and represent PSPH in key institutional, professional, and government forums as required, thereby strengthening the School’s visibility, influence, and collaborative reach.
At PSPH, Dr Austin offers teaching, training, and academic mentorship to the MSc HTA programme. She provides guidance to Master’s and PhD students in related areas, support online learning and capacity-building programmes. She contributes to the HTA activities of the HTA Regional Resource Centre of the Department of Health Research, Government of India, housed at PSPH. She engages with a focused programme of work in Health Informatics, while advancing collaborative projects that integrate health technology, data systems, and digital solutions.
