Faculty and Research Staff Present Key Studies on Viral Diseases at KILA, Thrissur

The faculty and research staff of Manipal Institute of Virology (MIV) actively participated in the 2nd International Conference on 'One Health' 2025 held at the Kerala Institute of Local Administration (KILA), Thrissur, Kerala, on November 2, 2025. Dr. Sudheesh N, Assistant Professor, presented on the diagnostic utility of real-time RT-PCR for Chikungunya virus detection. Mr. Anup Jayaram, Lecturer, shared emerging patterns in the epidemiology and clinical presentation of Kyasanur Forest Disease (KFD) in the Western Ghats, while fellow Lecturer Mr. Naren Babu N discussed tracing human-vector-wildlife interaction in a 2019 KFD outbreak. Additionally, Mr. Prasad Varamballi, Project Research Scientist-1, presented a poster detailing Infodemiology Insights into Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) outbreaks in India. MIV is proud to have contributed its expertise to this critical global initiative, reinforcing its commitment to the One Health framework by addressing challenges at the intersection of human, animal, and environmental health.
