Course Description:

Fellowship in Orthopaedic Trauma is an intense one-year program intended to foster academic careers for those Orthopaedics trained graduates who are interested in pursuing further expertise in trauma care surgery. The number and variety of cases allow the trainee to formulate the appropriate management and deliver the standard of care to a wide spectrum of Orthopaedic trauma. Furthermore, this fellowship will help to acquire the surgical expertise to tackle the various injuries with updated care. Fellowship in Orthopaedic Trauma program is designed to provide fellows with intensive training in assessing, decision-making, hands-on experience, postoperative management, follow up and documentation of trauma cases including polytrauma, intra/extra articular fractures, diaphyseal fractures, joint fracture dislocations, pelvi-acetabulum, hand and pediatric fractures.

Focus:

  • Make the trainee competent to diagnose, resuscitate and emergency management of Orthopaedic injuries including polytrauma cases.
  • To make the trainee updated with available options for definitive treatment and to choose the most appropriate cost-effective option which is applicable to situation at appropriate time.
  • To make the trainees understand the need of comprehensive care of trauma cases with reference to preventive, diagnostic, curative and rehabilitative services.

Career Prospectus:

Consultant / faculty at tertiary care hospitals/institutes, Trauma centers, DNB training centers.

Admission Process:

  • Eligibility Criteria: MS/DNB (Orthopaedics) from a NMC recognized institute. AO trauma Basic principles courses training (desired).
  • The selection procedure would be as approved by the selection committee of Manipal Academy of Higher Education.
  • One candidate will be selected for each year. Admission will be in January. Expected to apply online, 3 months before the scheduled admission date.
