Study Tour 2025 (Ahmedabad, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer)
November 22, 2025
A 10 days study tour to Ahmedabad, Jodhpur, and Jaisalmer offered architecture students an immersive learning experience focused on heritage architecture, urban morphology, and sustainable built environments. Through the exploration of historic forts, pol settlements, and walled city structures, students gained insights into the relationship between cultural heritage and sustainable urban identity. The tour also highlighted traditional passive design strategies such as courtyards, jaalis, thick masonry walls, narrow streets, and climate-responsive orientation used to achieve thermal comfort in hot-arid regions. Additionally, students of 2nd year and 3rd year from B. Arch studied the use of locally available materials including sandstone, lime mortar, and timber, understanding their durability, low embodied energy, and relevance in sustainable contemporary architecture.
