Celebrating Excellence: TEAM SAMARPAN Runner-Up in SDI 2024-25 Office Division

Team Samarpan, representing Manipal School of Architecture and Planning (MSAP) in collaboration with Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), secured the Runner-Up position in the Office Division of Solar Decathlon India 2024–25, held at Mysuru.

The team designed a proposal titled “GARUD – KSRTC Transport Hub cum Divisional Office, Mangaluru” — a climate-responsive, net-zero public infrastructure project that reimagines the existing KSRTC terminal as a functional, inclusive, and sustainable transit-oriented development.

Key features include:

• Two-level terminal design doubling platform capacity
• Smart mobility integration with IOT-based roads
• Passive cooling through stack, venturi and cross ventilation
• Sustainable materials like Agrocrete, GGBS concrete, terracotta, Vedic plaster
• Double-skin facades, green balconies, and CFD/daylight simulations
• A pragmatic Public-Private Partnership (PPP) implementation model

The project balances energy efficiency, user experience, cost feasibility, and long-term resilience — aligning with SDG Goals and India's Smart City mission.
