Aero MIT

 

AeroMIT, a team of about 20 interdisciplinary undergraduate students of Manipal Academy of Higher Education, design, manufacture and fly a complex, stable and portable model aircraft with minimal empty weight, maximum payload carrying capacity and high endurance. AeroMIT participates in the SAE AeroDesign event hosted by SAE International at various places in USA. AeroMIT has a new division called ADR – Advanced Drone Research where the team experiments with the emerging drone technologies. AeroMIT also participates in various national level competitions around the year.

 

AeroMIT was found by 4 Mechanical Engineering Students from MIT Manipal in 2009 and today is Manipal Academy of Higher Education’s official team for SAE Aerodesign. Since its inception, the team has participated in 5 events and the following are few of their achievements :

  • Ranked 2nd in Asia Pacific and 4th overall in Design Report Category in SAE AeroDesign East 2015.
  • Overall ranked 10th in SAE AeroDesign East 2015.
  • 1st position in Aviator Design and 2nd position in Aviator flying organized during IIT-B’s Techfest’15.
  • Awarded NASA Systems Engineering Award 3 times in a row.
  • Participated in the Wright Flight Flying competition held at the National Institute of Technology, Karnataka – Surathkal on 8th October 2015 and secured 1st & 2nd positions.
  • Participated in the Albatross Flying Competition, hosted by National Institute of Technology, Calicut on their campus during October 2015 and won the first and second positions.
