3D Printer

At Innovation Centre, MIT Manipal, FDM (Fused Deposition Modelling) type 3D Printing Machines are available and are used daily to churn out a number of design prototypes for a number of student projects for various applications ranging from Automotive to Biomedical. These 3D Printing Machines were fabricated by MIT students, who now successfully run their own 3D Printer Manufacturing company by the name of Fracktal Works in Bangalore.

These machines use ABS and PLA plastics in filament form, and after melting and selectively depositing the molten material in a specific manner, the required design is realized physically. A total of 8 machines are dedicated to student purpose and students are encouraged to use them to validate their ideas with a prototype.

To make students aware and familiar with this technology, interactive workshops are held regularly to introduce more students to the technology, which comes as a boon to the young and creative engineers and innovators who are brimming with ideas and are now equipped with tools to realize their ideas physically.
