Manipal Law School MAHE Bengaluru campus organized 3rd edition of Constitutional Law Lecture Series Program thereby celebrating 50th anniversary of Kesavananda Bharti’s Case on November 18, 2023. The Program was introduced to the august gathering by Dr. Rahul Mishra, Associate Professor of Law & Head , Legal Service Clinic, MLS,Blr.
The welcome address was given by Prof (Dr.) Avinash Dadhich, director, MLS, Blr wherein he emphasised on the relevance of Constitutional domains even today thereby delving deep into the portals of Kesavananda Bharti’s case. Prof (Dr.) Madhu Veeraraghavan, Pro. Vice. Chancellor, MAHE, Bengaluru Campus delivered the special address thereby expressing his happiness about the conduction of the program in a very nice and meticulous manner. He also shared his thoughts about the contribution made by Kesavananada Bharti’s case in solidifying the basic structure doctrine as envisaged by the makers of Indian Constitution. The written speech provided by Hon'ble Shri Justice Ajjikuttira Somaiah Bopanna, Judge, Supreme Court of India New Delhi, India was read over by Dr. Rahul Mishra. Hon’ble Shri Justice A S Boppana’s speech was heard by the august audience with rapt attention.
The speech emphasized upon the decisiveness of Kesavananda Bharti’s case thereby delving deep into the development of basic structure doctrine. His Holiness. Sachidananda Bharathi Swamiji , Pontiff, Edneer Math, Kerala graced the occasion as Guest of Honor and greeted Manipal Law School for their efforts and serendipity for having organized Constitutional Law Lecture Series Program thereby celebrating 50th anniversary of Kesavananda Bharti’s case. His Holiness blessed everyone in the MIT auditorium with his kind words and benign presence.
Hon’ble Shri Justice Engalaguppe Seetharamaiah Indiresh , Judge ,High Court of Karnataka graced this occasion as Guest of Honor and he also detailed out the relevant premises of Kesavananda Bharti’s case to the august audience thereby unearthing the contours of Basic Structure of Indian Constitution with precision and audacity.
Professor Srikrishna Deva Rao, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, Telangana also graced the occasion as Guest of Honor, He also shared his analysis of Kesavananda Bharti’s Case in the light of Basic Structure doctrine as established in the Constitution of India. He gave a critical perspective to the audience as to the significance and efficacy of Constitutional domains keeping in view modern day socio-legal issues being confronted by the society. Vasantha Krishna K, Group Legal Counsel, Manipal Group proposed the vote of thanks. This program was also aired virtually on teams platform and was attended by esteemed faculties and students from various Law Colleges in physical manner as well.
