About the Area of Study
Dermatology is a branch of medicine, that deals with treatment and management of cutaneous diseases and syndromes. The department of dermatology also deals with sexually transmitted diseases and leprosy. In the past two decades dermatology has further diversified towards medical and surgical cosmetology. Skin is considered as mirror to internal diseases because dermatological manifestations of most of diseases give clues to the diagnosis. Therefore, dermatology is considered as an important subject in Medicine.
