Dr. Sandeep S Shenoy was offered the leadership role as the Head, DCOM in 2010. Apart from his Academic role, he also handles the responsibility of leadership role in Compliance Department.
Mission
Under his leadership, the Department of Commerce has registered an exponential growth as evident from increased intake, addition of new programs at Undergraduate and Post graduate levels with more specialisation options and offering of PhD program. Internationalisation being his keen area of interest, his focused approach has successfully initiated collaborative opportunities with about 20 reputed universities across the globe resulting in signing of about 14 MOUs and thereby creating an opportunity for students to gain a global exposure and in developing a globally recognised curriculum. In the last two years, he has encouraged the departmental faculties to establish six Centres with focus on education beyond classrooms, training, research and consultancy in emerging areas of business and commerce. He has liasoned with global accrediting bodies like ACCA and CIMA, resulting in accreditation of UG programs of the dept. Liasioning with industry has led to collaboration with CII-Institute of Logistics resulting in development of academic programs in the domain area of Logistics and Supply Chain and undergraduate program, specialising in BPS with TCS
Accomplishments
He has published twenty-seven research papers in reputed national and international journals and presented them in conferences organiszed by reputed institutions in India and across the globe. He has received the “Best Paper Award” at an International Conference organiszed at SAID Business School, University of Oxford, United Kingdom in 2017. He has published several books and articles in the area of his research interest. He has organiszed many workshops and One National and Four International Conferences in an attempt toto bridge the industry academia gaps, leading to the finest outcomes benefiting all the all stakeholders. He holds membership of reputed associations like All India Management Association (AIMA).He is currently guiding one part time and one full time doctoral student.
As a part of Quality Assurance, he was highly instrumental in facilitating the University and its constituent units in certification for ISO 9001:2015 and 14001:2015 at Manipal and Mangalore campus. University has won several prestigious awards such as the Ramkrishna Bajaj National Quality Award (RBNQA), FICCI Award in multiple categories, Assocham Award in multiple categories etc. under his guidance. He has been liasioning with reputed World University ranking agencies like QS, THE to support the University’s Vision of being in top 200 Universities across the globe. He has been the nodal officer of the University in submission of Self Study Report and coordination during Peer Team for NAAC Accreditation in 2016. He has also coordinated visit of the UGC Expert Committee to review functioning of the University in 2017. He is responsible for preparing applications to be submitted to UGC for starting off campus and offshore campus. He has been an assessor for the RBNQA Applications (Quality Award based on Malcolm Baldrige Model) and played the role of team leader for multiple applications. He has received recognition as the best quality examiner from Indian Merchants Chamber as an assessor for RBNQ Award. He has been trained as Lead Auditor and also on the revised 2015, ISO 9001/14001 standards. He has played a lead role in preparing MAHE’s application for Institution of Eminence (IoE) to be submitted to UGC, in terms of contribution to compiling historical data, compliance related documentation and also supported in preparation of strategic plan for fifteen years and the 5 year rolling implementation plan.
