The maiden postgraduate batch of the Department of Liberal Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (DLHS) began their academic journey at the Bengaluru Campus of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) on September 12, 2022, through a formal Orientation Programme.

Dr. Shilpa Kalyan, the Head of DLHS, introduced the students to the academic, administrative, and technical intricacies of the Master of Arts (M.A.) programme. Currently, DLHS is offering the M.A. programme in two different disciplines – (i) Multimedia and Communication, and (ii) English Language and Literature. 

Dr. Kalyan spoke on multiple facets including the institutional norms of MAHE, the opportunities that liberal arts education offers and the possible contributions that students can make towards the betterment of the society after completing their education.

Following the introductory session by Dr. Kalyan, the students were divided into groups based on their chosen disciplines. The discipline-specific faculty members then jointly addressed each of the groups and deliberated on the academic requirements that the students need to conform to.
