Assistant Professor
Ms. Meitrai Mehta is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology at DLHS , MAHE Bengaluru. She is also a Registered Clinical Psychologist with the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI). She holds an M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology from Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana, an RCI-approved center affiliated with Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, where she graduated with First Division and secured university rank across both academic years. She also holds an M.Sc., a B.A., and a PG Diploma in Family & Counseling Therapy. Her clinical career spans three distinct institutional settings: a pediatric developmental center, a military hospital under the Ministry of Defence, and a government hospital where she served as a member of the Disability Certification Board. She has been actively involved in the supervision and training of postgraduate psychiatry residents. Ms. Mehta is also a consulting Clinical psychologist with Parenteva, an online platform dedicated to child, adolescent, and family mental health. Beyond clinical settings, she has organized psychological awareness programmes for the general public, participated in interdisciplinary medical camps, and collaborated with schools on psychoeducational initiatives aimed at supporting student wellbeing and mental health literacy. Her research interests centre on the developmental sequelae of adverse early environments, with a focus on how exposure to interparental conflict and domestic violence during childhood shapes psychological outcomes across the lifespan, and the mechanisms through which family of origin experiences confer vulnerability to psychological morbidity in adolescence and adulthood. Ms. Mehta regularly attends Continuing Rehabilitation Education (CRE) programs to remain current with emerging developments in clinical practice. She brings a commitment to bridging clinical practice and scholarship. She translates rigorous, evidence-based experiences across diverse settings into teaching that is grounded, reflective, and meaningfully connected to the realities of psychological practice.
