Mr. Manikandan C is an Assistant Professor specializing in Film Art and Aesthetics, Film Production, and Television Production. With nine years of experience in the Indian and UK film and television industries, and sixteen years of experience in academics. he is an alumnus of the Film and Television Institute of Tamil Nadu (FTIT). He teaches MFA and BAMC courses and has recently written extensively on the impact of AI on technological breakthroughs and film aesthetics. His short film was honored with an award from the Tamil Nadu State Government.

Mistress of Spices: Slewing the Fiction to Film

The current analysis throws light on Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni’s novel, The Mistress of Spices. The story adopts a multifarious strategy for portraying diasporic identity and elaborates the cinematic adaptation of the same. A film adaptation is the transfer of a written work, in whole or in part, to feature film. A common form of film adaptation is the use of a novel as the basis of a feature film. The novel, The Mistress of Spices has undergone the process of making as a movie. The cinematic rendition of the novel by the director Mayeda and the scriptwriter Chadha endure a different look of the novel in general, leaving the audience with a clear understanding that the adaptation is the film makers’ personal and political opinion.

Technological changes and economic production are some of the reasons digital film production came into practice. This present study is conducted to identify the reasons for digital acceptance in film. The researchers have adopted a Qualitative method since it requires deep study of analyzing filmmakers' mindsets. For the present study, an online survey is conducted among media professionals, media students, media educators, and cinemagoers across India. Samples were taken from different genders and age group cohorts. This study analyses various grounds for media practitioners' acceptance of digital filmmaking.
