Background:Clinical Decision Support Systems (CDSS) are designed and developed with an aim to support the healthcare professionals in making quality decision during patient care. The successful implementation of CDSS is only possible when the need of the healthcare professionals are identified and deployed into it.Objective:The study was conducted with aim to understand the need of healthcare professionals towards CDSS. Methodology: A descriptive study was conducted among 80 doctors and 100 nurses of a tertiary care teaching hospital. A validated and pretested questionnaire consists of 10 questions based on 5-point Likert Scale was used to collect the data from the respondents. Statistical Analysis:The Statistical Package of Social Science Version 16.0 was used to analyze and present the data.Result:The result of the study showed variation in the response received from the doctor i.e.21% to 80%, as they were not very certain about the need of CDSS in improving patient outcome, enhancing treatment and decision making, but the nurses felt that the CDSS can as sist them in enhancing their practice and better patient outcome
