Specializations

LLM in Construction Law and Arbitration

LLM in Construction Law and Arbitration is a specialized master's degree programme that will upskill the cohorts to be professionally competent in the inter disciplinary field of construction/infrastructure sector in India and globally.Manipal Law School is the first Law School in the Country to offer a specialised masters in law degree in construction Law field. The programs intend to expose cohorts to emerging construction technologies, sustainability, administration of construction contracts based on best international practices, risks involved in construction besides alternative dispute resolution like adjudication, arbitration, and mediation.

The Indian construction industry is growing at an exponential rate. It is expected that over the next 4 years the Indian construction industry would be registering an annual growth of 6.3% and India’s infrastructure investment will be in the range of US$ 1.3 trillion (INR 104.2 trillion).

Such an exponential growth in the industry has also attracted project delays and cost overruns. For example, in survey of out of 1521 projects, 380 infrastructure projects have cost overruns of INR 4.58 Lakh crores (cost overrun 22%) 642 Projects are in delay (56%)

The same curriculum is being offered to non-legal professionals as LLM (Professional) which includes modules on Contract law, Tort law, principles of evidence, limitation Act and Indian Legal and Statutory frame work. LLM in Data Privacy and Cyber Law

LLM in Data Privacy and Cyber Law is a specialized master's degree programme that focuses on the legal aspects of data privacy and cybersecurity. It provides a comprehensive understanding of the laws, regulations, and best practices surrounding the protection and regulation of personal data, along with competency in dealing with cyber-attacks and information security.

The programme details international data protection law, enabling exposure to European GDPR, California’s CCPA, Singapore’s PDPA etc. The programme covers topics such as data protection laws, cybercrime, internet law, and data governance. Every participant gets to specialize in a niche subject-area.

LLM in Information Technology Law

LLM in Information Technology Law is a specialized master's degree programme that focuses on the legal issues related to technology and innovation. It provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the laws, regulations, and best practices surrounding the development, use, and regulation of technology. The programme covers topics such as Tech Contracts, Telecom, FinTech, Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics etc. Every participant gets to specialize in a niche subject-area.

The LLM in Information Technology Law helps develop the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate the complex legal landscape of the tech industry and to effectively advise clients on technology-related legal issues.

LLM in International Investment and Commercial Arbitration

MLS is again offering India’s first master’s degree in international investment and commercial arbitration. The field of arbitration has gained significant prominence in the legal arena both domestically and globally. With the increase in cross-border transactions, disputes have become more complex and the demand for the skilled arbitration professionals has soared. Eligibility Criteria & Admission Process

Eligibility Criteria:

LLB or equivalent degree in law examination with a minimum of 50% marks. Students will be selected based on personal interview conducted by a panel comprised of faculty/experts.

Candidates pursuing final year undergraduate course in the academic year 2022-2023 will also be eligible for submitting applications for Postgraduate Programmes. 

Admission Process: 

Admissions to the LLM Programme will be granted through submission of an application, followed by a personal interview.
