Dr Girish N

Associate Professor

Girish N has around 20 years of experience in teaching and teaches Film Studies, Science Fiction, Literary/Cultural Theories, Linguistics, and English Language Teaching. He obtained a PhD in “A Semiotic Study on the Science Fiction Films of James Cameron.” He has an MPhil degree, PGDELT, and passed UGCNET and KSET. He has attended short-term programmes in Theatre Appreciation, Play Writing, Film Appreciation, and Translation Studies from NSD, FTII and NTM (CIIL). He has edited the English section of Arebhashe Padakosha, Arebhashe-Kannada-English dictionary, published by the Karnataka Arebhashe Samskruti mathu Sahitya Akademi, Government of Karnataka. He has completed a Minor Research Project on “Using Popular Films as Text in English Language Teaching” funded by the UGC and currently pursuing a Major Research Project on the "Representation of Communities and Cultural Practices of "Tulu Nadu" in Transition: A Socio-Cultural Study through Select Kannada Films” funded by MJES. His goal in teaching is to provide the requisite knowledge, encourage critical thinking, and stimulate natural curiosity among students.
