Dr Kiran GSK
Assistant Professor
Dr. Kiran completed his PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, where his research examined India’s maritime security strategy and capacity-building engagements in the Indo-Pacific, working at the intersection of international relations, maritime governance, and non-traditional security—with a focus on marine resources and illicit maritime activities. Dr. Kiran has been an MHRD fellowship recipient for both his master’s and doctoral studies and was a visiting scholar at the Institute of Chinese Studies (ICS), as well as a G20 Fellow with the Centre for Financial Accountability. His work has been recognised through competitive awards, including a European International Studies Association (EISA) mobility grant, an IIT Guwahati travel grant, and an exchange fellowship with the Graduate School of Asian and African Area Studies (ASAFAS) at Kyoto University, Japan (declined due to COVID-19). Dr. Kiran’s research has also been presented and published in several leading international conferences and journals. His current research builds on his doctoral work by focusing on transboundary fisheries governance in the Bay of Bengal, working at the intersection of ocean equity, maritime justice, and community-based approaches to maritime security and sustainable resource management.
