Roentgen Day commemorates Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen's discovery of X-rays in the year 1895. This day honours Roentgen’s groundbreaking contribution to science and medicine, particularly his discovery of a type of radiation that transformed the world of medical diagnostics and physics. This day serves as a reminder of the incredible progress made in field of Medical Imaging. From the discovery of x-rays more than a century ago - to the cutting-edge innovations and technologies today, the journey has been nothing short of astounding. Celebrating days like this helps us to recognize the importance of ongoing education, research and technological advancements and ultimately improving patient care which is also the theme selected for this year “Empowering healthcare through imaging excellence”.

The World Roentgen Day 2025 was organized by the Department of Medical Imaging Technology with the theme of “Empowering healthcare through imaging excellence” on 8th November 2025 at Sharada Hall, Ground floor, MCHP, Manipal.
