Presently working as Assistant Professor at Cizik School of Nursing, University of Texas Health Science Center, Houston, USA. She is the recipient of the school’s newest PARTNERS Research Scholar Endowment. The endowment will support her ongoing research into interpersonal violence.

Mr. Sheikh Siraj Salim is a graduate of PBBSc Nursing (Batch 2018-2020) of MCON, MAHE, Manipal, and currently working at Jaslok Hospital, Mumbai in the Cardiac department for super specialty management of heart transplant, liver transplant, kidney transplant, and postoperative management of cardiovascular and thoracic surgeries. Anushree Naik, an alumnus of MCON, MAHE Manipal (BSc Nursing 2015-19 batch) won gold medal during the Rajyostav Cup Karnataka State Inter-district women’s boxing championship at Bengaluru held on 2nd & 3rd November 2019. She produced a Malayalam film “Sunday Holiday” in 2017 under the banner of MAQTRO Pictures. Ormayil Oru Shishiram, the fourth movie from MAQTRO Pictures is all set to release on August 2, 2019, and is produced by Sheen Helen. In an interview with The Times of India (Kochi edition) Helen says, “As a production house, our responsibility to society increases with every release. We are careful to choose stories that are relevant and relatable. Ormayil Oru Shishiram is such one offering”.
MAQTRO Pictures is a movie and associated media production company with a team of professionals who believes in the importance of storytelling, and creativity and offer movies that express the essence of the story. Eapen’s PhD dissertation published in Maternal and Child Health Journal
Eapen joined the Department of Undergraduate Studies last September as an Assistant Professor. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s in Nursing from Manipal College of Nursing in India. She worked as a Nurse Educator at the High Institute of Nursing, Qatar from 2001 to 2005. After immigrating to the U.S. in 2005, she completed her PhD in Nursing at the University of Kansas in May 2016.
Eapen’s doctoral study received the Crighton Award for research among vulnerable populations and Dr. Valmi Delfino De Sousa Award of Excellence for innovation in nursing research from the University of Kansas School of Nursing.

Manipal Alumnus enters India Book of Records as the “Youngest Ph.D. holder in Nursing”
Vishnu Renjith, an alumnus of Manipal College of Nursing Manipal, has entered into the India Book of Records for being the “Youngest Ph.D holder in Nursing.” Dr Vishnu completed bachelor's and master’s degrees in nursing from MCON Manipal in 2010 and 2013 respectively. Last November, he successfully defended his doctoral dissertation on the “Effectiveness of a multicomponent intervention in the treatment of patients with migraine”. Dr. Vishnu will be receiving his convocation from MAHE on 16 Nov 2018.
National Academies of Practice (NAP) presents Dr. Simi Jesto Joseph with ‘Creativity in Practice and Education Award’
Dr. Simi Jesto Joseph, DNP, RN, APN, NP-C, was named the Creativity in Practice and Education Award winner by the National Academies of Practice (NAP) during the banquet ceremony at the 2018 Annual Meeting and Forum held in Atlanta, Georgia on April 14, 2018. Michelle Troseth, MSN, RN, FNAP, FAAN, president of NAP presented the prestigious award to her. This National Award of USA recognizes and encourages interdisciplinary team programs, projects or models which focus on the improvement of health care.
Dr. Simi Joseph, BSc Nursing (1994-98) graduate of Manipal College of Nursing Manipal, is a Nurse Practitioner and Director of Research & Education at GI Solutions, mentor to APNs, Adjunct Professor at Benedictine University, International teaching faculty at Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), India, and a national continuing education speaker. She is passionate in the treatment of chronic gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). She focuses on an interdisciplinary approach for the treatment of each GERD patient at GI Solutions. She has put together a protocol for the diagnostic work up, surgical & endoscopic therapy, and post-op management for the long-term effectiveness of these treatments.
Manjusha Rajesh, an alumnus of Manipal College of Nursing (MSc-Medical Surgical Nursing in 2004) obtained Doctorate (PhD) in Nursing from SIMATS (Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences) Chennai for the thesis titled “Effectiveness of JPMR on Hypertension and Educational Stress among School Going Adolescents”.
She is currently working as faculty of nursing at College of Nursing under Public Authority of Applied Education and Training (PAAET) Kuwait. She previously held various positions in nursing education and administration including lecturer at Amrita College of Nursing, Kochi, Instructor in the Staff Development Unit of Ahmadi Hospital, Kuwait Oil Company, Kuwait, and Assistant Director of Nursing, Al Adan Hospital Ministry of Health, Kuwait.
Mr. Nevil Johnson Raju, a graduate of BSc Nursing (2005 batch) and MSc Nursing (2011 batch) received the 'Best Staff Nurse' award in the Forensic unit of Al Masarra Hospital, Nursing Affairs Department, Oman.

Joana Susan Joseph was awarded the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses for her compassion, knowledge, and approachability. She was nominated by her coworkers for her dedication to patient care and her team.
DAISY Foundation was created in 1999, with DAISY standing for Diseases attacking the Immune system, and with it The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses- a partnership with healthcare organizations to honor nurses who go "above and beyond" and make extraordinary differences in patients and families experiences in healthcare. Today there would be over 2100 healthcare facilities in the USA and 14 other countries, honoring nurses with the DAISY award. Doncy Joji Eapen, PhD, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC
Doncy completed her bachelor’s and Master’s in Nursing from Manipal College of Nursing, India. She worked as a Nurse Educator at the High Institute of Nursing, Doha, Qatar from 2001 to 2005. She immigrated to the United States in 2005 where she continued her studies. After completing her Post Master’s in Family Nurse Practitioner in 2011 from the University of Kansas, she continued PhD in Nursing and successfully graduated in May 2016. Her dissertation study was the first study that assessed the pregnancy-related social support experiences of low-income women who have had low birth weight infants. The study findings revealed unique challenges for pregnant women in low-income countries and the significance of social support during pregnancy. The study won the Crighton Award for research among the vulnerable population and Dr Valmi Sousa Scholar Award for innovation in nursing research by the University of Kansas. Doncy also won the Sigma Theta Tau International Award for the PhD Student of the Year 2016 and the Colleen P Kosiak Clinical excellence award for Advanced Practice Nurse during the University of Kansas School of Nursing recognition ceremony on May 14, 2016. She works as a fulltime acute care Nurse Practitioner with KC Hospitalists, Kansas, USA.
Beena Joseph, DNP (HSL), MSN-Ed, RNC-MNN
Beena Joseph, a former MCON student and alumni member has successfully completed her Doctorate in Nursing Practice in Healthcare Systems Leadership (DNP-HSL) from Chamberlain College of Nursing, Illinois, United States. Beena completed her BSc Nursing from Manipal College of Nursing in 1995 and her Master’s Degree in Nursing Education from the University of Houston, Texas, United States in 2011. Beena holds the Registered Nurse License from the Texas Board of Nursing since 2000 and National Certification in Maternal Newborn Nursing (MNN) from National Certification Corporation, United States since 2007. Currently, she works as an Education Resource Specialist III/Prophecy Administrator with the System Clinical Education Department for Memorial Hermann Health System (MHHS), one of the major healthcare systems in the Greater Houston area of Texas. She supports, guides, and oversees the Staff Development Department with the hiring/onboarding process, competency assessments/projects, and the staff development initiatives for 13 MHHS acute care hospitals. She is a previous faculty member at Manipal College of Nursing and served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Houston, Texas, United States. In addition, she serves as an adjunct faculty for Alvin Community College, Texas, United States. Her research interests/works are focused on both clinical and staff development initiatives such as Postpartum Depression, Motivational Interviewing and Pain Management, and the Individualized employee onboarding/orientation process. Beena is a National Member and Local Chapter associate of the Association of Nursing Professional Development (ANPD) in the United States. She did a professional Presentation on “Early Detection of Postpartum Depression: An Evidence-based Practice Guideline” during the 2014 Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) Leadership Connection in Indianapolis, United States. She is scheduled to do a professional presentation on “Motivational interviewing and Pain Management” during the Annual Research celebration at Memorial City Hermann Medical Center, Houston, Texas on October 20th, 2016. Ms. Sheryl Jyothi Cornelio
Deputy Director, Nursing at Dr. L H Hiranandani Hospital, Mumbai, Maharashtra (BSc (1999-2003), MSc (2008-2010) and MPhil Nursing graduate of Manipal College of Nursing, Manipal) has been awarded among the top 100 great people managers of India by Forbes Magazine.
With 13 years of experience in the clinical and teaching field, she manages 250 nurses and thereby she leads by example. She has won the confidence of her team with empathy and integrity. Captain Valsa Thomas, Nursing Director of the hospital says, “Sheryl is always ready to take challenges head-on and ensures optimal nursing care. She is an asset and a leader with zeal”.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, she has ensured the safety of employees by providing them with add-on facilities, regular motivational activities, counseling, and interactions to cope with the fear of contracting the virus. She believes in taking inputs from her team members for crucial tasks, and motivates and involves them in problem-solving, which helps her to connect with them in a better way – such qualities in her make her a great manager.
