Turning Libraries into Working Laboratories, Since 2011 — Now in Bengaluru.

The Department of Library and Information Science (DLIS) is a constituent unit of the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), India. We have been a pioneer in shaping the future of information professionals since 2011, and today we carry that legacy forward through our Master of Library & Information Science (MLISc) program. We are built on a simple conviction: that libraries are working laboratories. So we don't just teach you concepts — we put you inside real library environments where you apply them, ensuring you graduate as confident in practice as you are in theory. From the academic year 2026–27, we bring this legacy to our Bengaluru campus, placing you within a vibrant interdisciplinary ecosystem alongside peers from Engineering, Law, Social Sciences, Management, Technology & Arts, Commerce, and Medicine. We bridge tradition with technology, theory with practice, and discipline with interdisciplinarity — preparing you to become one of the next generation of information leaders who thrive across academia, industry, and beyond.
